13 Weeks Pregnant | The Second Trimester Begins
Share
Baby is roughly the size of a lemon, and you have reached the trimester most people describe as the good one.
What is happening this week
Your baby is around 7cm and has started producing urine, which goes into the amniotic fluid. Vocal cords are forming. Fingerprints — the ones they will have for life — are already on those tiny fingers.
The head is still large in proportion to the body, but the rest is catching up fast from here.
How you might be feeling
Thirteen weeks is the traditional threshold. Miscarriage risk drops sharply, nausea often lifts, and this is the week many people finally tell everyone.
That can be a strange relief. After months of holding it quietly, saying it out loud makes it real in a way the scans somehow did not.
Worth writing down
Record how you told people, and how they reacted. Those first tellings get retold for years and the details drift almost immediately.
Write down who you told first, and why it was them.
Our Pregnancy Journal — Made With Love has a page for every week to forty. It pairs with Your First Years for afterwards, or take both together. Buying for someone else? The Pregnancy to Baby Keepsake Gift Set covers the whole journey.
